This reflection was written in response to John 11:1-45

Mary, Martha and Lazarus were some of Jesus’ very favorite people.  He dined at their house, He visited and relaxed with them, and He even let one of them anoint His feet with oil.  This family of two sisters and a brother were like His home away from home, a respite from the exhaustion of His ministry.

I remember when I went to the hospital to have my first child I brought a list of names and phone numbers that I wanted my husband to use when sharing the good news.  When my nephew lay dying in the hospital last year my sister-in-law had an email distribution list ready and waiting for any and all updates.  Only family and very close friends [Read more →]
